Why wasn't my trash/recycling picked up?
Did you have your trash out BEFORE 6:00 a.m. the day of pickup? Was all of your trash and/or recyclables in the appropriate cart with the lid closed? Was the cart placed no more than two feet off the road? Were the carts placed where they would be free of obstructions, including parked cars? If yes answered yes to all of these questions, contact Borden Waste-Away using the phone number printed on the carts.

How does the garbage pick-up work?
Garbage is picked up on a weekly basis every Monday. Each household that is eligible for trash pickup is issued a 96 gallon trash cart. All trash must be placed in the trash cart.
Recycling is picked up every other week on the same day as normal garbage pick up. Also, during the months of May, June, July, and August, recycling will be picked up every Monday. Each household will be issued a recycling cart. Please refer to the chart on the top of the recycling cart for items that may be recycled.
You are also allowed to set out ONE large item with your weekly garbage. Most large furniture items will be picked up at no additional charge, however, there is a charge to pick up appliances. Please contact Borden Waste-Away Service at 1-800-386-3313 Ext 570 to schedule appliance pickup. Items that are not allowed for large item pickup include construction material, auto parts, building supplies, and coolant. Also, a new state law effective January 1, 2011 prohibits disposing of electronics in landfills. This includes television, computers, computer monitors, microwaves, DVD players, etc. You may contact KCRecycling about disposing of these items.

Condominiums are supplied with trash dumpsters paid for by the town.
Commercial, Multi-family and Industrial properties must arrange for their own garbage services.
When is Spring Clean-up?
Syracuse no longer has a ‘Spring Clean-up' week. Spring Clean-up has been replaced by the one large item per week pickup.
What if I need more than the 96 gallon trash cart each week?
The Town of Syracuse program allows for pickup of 96 gallons of trash weekly. If you have more than 96 gallons of trash each week, you may call Borden Waste-Away at 1-800-386-3313 to arrange for additional service. There will be a fee for this additional service.
